Pheasant Run Resort

At a time in the early 1960’s when St. Charles, Illinois, consisted primarily of cornfields, the family owners of Oakbrook Properties bought a 250-acre dairy farm and developed Pheasant Run Resort, the Midwest’s first entertainment resort. The main barn was converted into one of the first theme restaurants, the “Smugglers’ Cove,” and a small indoor replica of Bourbon Street in New Orleans was constructed as a nightclub. Over the years, Pheasant Run Resort was expanded to include 473 guest suites, a 36-hole golf course, theater, comedy club, restaurants, bars, ballrooms and meeting spaces.
